Features of Lean Black Belt
The program consists of the following Modules:
- Lean Thinking/Lean Tools I & II
- Managing Technology Projects
- Leadership, Change, and Innovation Management
Participants will also need to submit a project that demonstrates cost savings in excess of $50,000.
Students need to identify a suitable project from within
their business. Within the project, they need to estimate
and demonstrate the potential savings resulting from
a lean implementation program (minimum of $50,000 required).
An outline/proposal for the project will be submitted
to www.leanscm for
evaluation and approval. On approval, detailed guidelines
will be issued to the student with timelines. Based
on these, the student can then implement the project
itself. The final submission must include confirmed
savings and sign-off from a Financial Controller or
Director from the student/participant's company.
The program runs for 33 weeks throughout the academic
year. It is delivered through a hybrid of traditional
distance education, and online learning. Students receive
a learning pack containing course notes, and a recommended
reading list. These constitute the core material needed
to study the course.
The online element will consist of access to electronic
copies of course notes, for study while in the office
or traveling. Students also have to download the readings
from the reading list.
